225 Roadster

I got a 2001 model Audi TT Roadster (225 TTQR) in January 2001, after a lot of funny things happened to my earlier car and my motorcycle. Since I like automobiles in general, nice cars sometimes make me ephemerally happy. In that context, as much an automobile is capable of making one happy, that much the TT does, or it comes very close. Well, I suppose if I had a Ferrari Enzo (or even a 360 Modena Spyder or a Porsche GT2, but maybe not an S7), I might be a shade happier ... but then again, it's all transience.

Seriously speaking (or at least seriously sounding) though, if you must "burn" money on a car, the TT may not be too bad a value. A different school of thought might prefer NOS charged Neons!

By the way, in case you are wondering what "TT" stands for, well, for God's sake it is not "Twin Turbo", or "TipTronic" (heard this one recently)! It is amazing how widespread the twin-turbo notion is. Online reviews and advertisements (not from Audi, fortunately), even reputable auto magazines, various friends of mine, and (ridiculously so) many TT owners would have you believe there are two turbos in the TT. Here is a quote from an owner, as stated in his "rating" of the TT on a website: "... 225 horses and twin turbo neck snapping power is standard ...". Those TT owners who are in touch with reality would raise an eyebrow at the "neck snapping power" as well. To reassert the fact, I have seen the twin turbos being mentioned in more than one magazine. So much for the "informed" in "informed press". As every real TT owner would know, it refers to the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy.
